I just heard that I am waitlisted for Atlanta Symphony audition. I have not been in this situation before, so I would be grateful to hear any ideas you have about how to handle it effectively/efficiently.
I think I will assume that I will get a spot, but that I will not know until after their cancellation date, 7 days before the audition. I will buy multiple refundable air tickets on Southwest, and make a refundable hotel reservation.
Any other suggestions about how to make the best of this inconvenient situation?
It is unfortunate, especially because it keeps you from feeling fully committed… it used to be that as long as you knew someone you could just talk to them and get a spot. Now, with orchestras wanting to seem more fair and open, nobody is supposed to talk to anybody, and you end up with situations just as unfair as the old ones!
I think you’re doing the best you can with this. Hopefully they let you know in good time.
