Welcome to natesviolin.com, a celebration of all things violin. I celebrate the violin as I would celebrate an old friend, one who has shared the best and worst times. If you’ve picked one up, you know that it’s a fickle companion, both your individual instrument and the species in general. Though small and fragile, the violin can terrify the player and listener alike!
But how glorious the moment when everything comes together, and playing feels like an extension of one’s self! Those moments can be brief or sustained, they can come every day or not for months, they can be felt only by the player or by an entire hall. These are what I celebrate most of all.
Reaching for that state, of course, is common to all human endeavors. And I hope that this site informs and entertains anyone who goes through the process in any field: constant self-awareness and tearing down, only to rebuild stronger than before. Along the way, plenty of humor mixed in with drudgery, and pictures to spice up the words. And now that we’ve evolved enough to make it feasible, video and audio as well!
